Have you been considering joining the Society as a member? Now is a great time to take the plunge as your membership will be extended until the end of December 2024 for the price of £10 UK or £15 Overseas. Effectively 15 months for the price of 12.

As a member you will receive:

1. three copies a year of our award winning journal, “Oxfordshire Family Historian”
2. access to the Members’ Area on the website which is full of helpful information
3. free access to all our meetings both in person and online

The journal is packed full of articles about people and places in Oxfordshire, aspects of family history research and items of general historical interest. Recent articles have included: “Challenge yourself with an Ahnentafel Chart”; Second World War Rationing”; “A murdered family” and “My DNA breakthrough”.

The Members’ Area of our website is the place to go to find information about our events both past, present and future, back copies of the journal, various projects that we are involved in and much more. Many of our talks have been recorded and are available in the Members’ Area such as “Family History for Beginners” and “Advanced Family History”.

OFHS is a particularly active Society when it comes to talks and we endeavour to make all of them available online as well as welcoming members and guests to talks at Exeter Hall in Oxford. Talks range from areas of general historical interest such as “Victorian and Edwardian Railway Workers” to more specific Oxfordshire or actual family history such as “The History of Bletchingdon” and “My last Ag Lab”. We also try to present topics specifically to help members with their research and have covered topics as varied as “Using Evernote”; “Publishing on the web” and “How to make best use of your DNA”.

Our future meetings agenda is booked through 2024 so you can see what you could listen to and join in. Most of these talks would cost upwards from £10 each if you were to listen through other organisations.

Membership costs £10pa for UK members and £15pa for overseas members. If you join in October – December your membership is extended to the end of the following year. We feel this truly represents value for money and is one of the many reasons we are such a strong Society.
