This is a Zoom meeting.  The Zoom meeting will open at 7:15pm (UK time) and the talk will start at 8pm.
Note: Between 7:15pm and 7:55pm we will have breakout rooms where members can talk about various topics, determined nearer the date of the meeting.

Speaker: Gill Blanchard

Summary of Talk: Learn how to bring the story of your ancestors to life. How to stop researching and start writing, choose a format and what to include. What to do with family stories, missing pieces, and anomalies. Discover how to bring life to the page with the author of Writing Your Family History (Pen and Sword, 2016) and experienced writing tutor and biographer.

Speaker Bio: Gill is a full time historical researcher and author with an academic background in History, Sociology and Politics at degree and postgraduate degree level. She has a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (Post Compulsory Education), which qualifies me to teach adults and was awarded a second MA with Merit in Biography and Creative Non Fiction by the University of East Anglia.  Gill has been conducting family, house and local history research on a full time professional basis since 1992, setting up her own research company in 1997, and is a full member of Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA), the foremost accrediting body in the UK. She began her research career by working at Norfolk Record Office for six years. During this time Gill conducted research on a daily basis on behalf of those who could not visit in person, and assisted visitors with their own research projects. While working at the record office she also transcribed and indexed numerous documents dating from the sixteenth century onwards, including poor law settlement examinations, probate records, coroners’ inquests and quarter sessions court papers.
