Talk Summary:   A look at the Oxford City Cemeteries.  The talk covers the history of Oxford’s cemeteries, how they came about, where they were located and how they came to fill up so quickly early on. The talk also covers some of the issues that arise from the use of cemeteries, how the burials are recorded and some anecdotes of people who were buried in the cemeteries in Oxford.

Speaker background:   Trevor, served in the Royal Air Force, spending 17 years in the ranks rising to Sergeant, followed by a further 12 years as a Commissioned Officer, graduating in 1993 from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell. Served overseas on two tours in Germany, one tour in The Netherlands and deployments to Sardinia, Italy, Kosovo, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United States. Worked on the personal staff of the Commander British Forces Middle East in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia during the 1991 Gulf War.  In September 2005 he was employed as the Registrar and Manager of Cemeteries for Oxford City Council responsible for all day to day burial activities and grounds maintenance for four cemeteries and eleven churchyards across Oxford City.  Retired from full time employment in October 2017 and since April 2018 employed as a part-time Wedding Registrar for Oxfordshire County Council. Employed as a volunteer VIP Escort Officer at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford since 2018. Poppy Appeal Organiser for Aston and Cote.
