The Alphabetical Digest of Rushers Banbury Directory to Trades and Occupations 1832 to 1906, published by Banbury Historical Society, is a must-have for those with ancestors in Banbury at that time. The publication consists of all the names in the directory, in alphabetical order, along with the forenames, occupation, and place of trading across which dates.
Occupations vary from Hatter to Milkman to Tea Dealer, to Gymnastics Instructor, Yeast Dealer and Chimney Sweep. There’s also a DVD facsimile of the original book.
Oxfordshire Family History Society has a few copies available in the shop.
