Oxfordshire Family History Society members (in photo: Angie Trueman and Alex McGahey) attended the Europeana collection day at Wantage on 26 October.
Some items were brought by the public to be photographed or scanned, and in some cases members of the public had reminiscences they were happy to have recorded.
Malcolm Austen scanned artefacts with a FlipPal, whereby small sections can be scanned, and then the whole stitched together. Here a four foot long photo of staff at Graylingwell War Hospital, Chichester, is being scanned, and also a WWI discharge certificate.
Stories of the adventures of the day from the volunteers will be in our April journal, and the Europeana project is at www.europeana1914-1918.eu/en
