Exploring your Ancestor's Parish Church & Churchyard

Celia will take you on a trip round the parish church and churchyard, helping you to learn, observe and appreciate many different aspects of the sacred place which was the centre of our ancestors’ lives in so many different ways for so many centuries. She will also take a look at the types of graves you can expect your ancestors to have been buried in, taking a look underground in both the churchyard and the church itself — and finally she will show you just how gravestones can go missing.

Celia has been passionate about family history since childhood, genealogist and historian Celia Heritage is a well-known figure on the international genealogy circuit. She presented several talks and workshops at the 2017 BIFHSGO Conference in Ottawa, Canada, and also at Rootstech, London in 2019. Celia currently works as a Research Manager for Ancestry ProGenealogists in London having run her own research business for 10 years prior to this. She is the author of ‘Tracing Your Ancestors Through Death Records’ and ‘Researching and Locating your Ancestors’.
