Advanced Family History Skills Course

at Online

Jessicia Feinstein

Dates: Thursdays 10 and 24 November and 8 December, 7–8pm

By: Jessicia Feinstein

This course will be perfect for you if you attended Jessica’s Beginners’ Course last year, or if you have been researching your family tree for at least two years and are ready to learn some new skills.

The course will cover some important genealogical skills and techniques requested by OFHS members in a survey that was sent out earlier this year, including: effective use of the Internet; how to find and make sense of early records and sources; how to analyse evidence; how to read old handwriting; how to solve genealogical mysteries; and how to carry out a mini one-name study.

The course consists of 3 sessions, with some homework in between, and sessions will be recorded.

Please note: this is not a course for those just getting started with their family history. The assumption will be made that attendees are very familiar with census records, parish registers, and civil birth, marriage and death records, and this material will not be covered. If you have not yet taken the OFHS Beginners’ Course, please see the Members’ Area for the recordings, or look out for new dates next year for the live version.

The course will be taught by OFHS Education Co-ordinator Jessica Feinstein, who is an experienced family history teacher and a qualified genealogist.
