Travel instructions to OFHS Fair

Directions to the MEC ( Marlborough Enterprise Centre)

This page give directions for getting to the MEC at the Marlborough School on the outskirts of Woodstock. The MEC lies on the eastern outskirts of Woodstock – postcode OX20 1LP

By Train

The most sensible option is to head to Oxford and then get a bus or a taxi.

By Bus

There are two services which run from Oxford to Woodstock. One operated by Stagecoach which is the S3 bus; one operated by ParkAndRide.

Please note that if you take this option, you will still have about a 15-20 minute walk to get to the MEC.

Get off the bus outside Blenheim Palace gates. Cross the road and head right towards the speed cameras. Turn left just past these cameras into Cadogan Park, which turns into Princes Ride. This is a straight road, do not turn off it. When you reach the staggered T junction at the end of Princes Ride turn left into Flemings Road. This is a housing estate with no “main road”. At the end of Flemings Road turn right into Shipton Road. The MEC is about 2 minutes walk from this junction.

By Car

There are three roads that can bring you to the MEC, you may be traveling either way along those three, so that’s six options. The final junctions before the MEC will be marked with yellow (or blue if the newer yellow ones run out!) signed marked Family History. This map was produced for our October fair at the same venue, it locates the school relative to Woodstock. Click the map for the full size version.

A44 from the north (Chipping Norton, Stratford)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Do not be tempted to take the small roads out of the centre of Woodstock, drive right through the town and out to the south. Turn left onto the A4095 at the roundabout (signed Kirtlington or Bicester).

A44 from the south (Oxford)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

After passing Oxford Airport (on your right) be ready to turn right at the roundabout ahead (signed Kirtlington or Bicester) .

A4095 from the west (Witney, Bladon)

Go straight ahead at the roundabout to the south of Woodstock.

A4095 from the east (Bicester, Brackley)

This will bring you to a T junction on the A4260 (below). Go left and then almost immediately right (still on the A4095).

A4260 from the north (Banbury)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The A4095 crosses the A4260 with a pair of offset T junctions. After the A4095 junction on your left, you will be turning right.

A4260 from the south (Oxford)OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You will need to turn left onto the A4095.

Nearly there!

You are now of the A4095 just south of your destination.

If you just came round the roundabout south of WoodstockOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You need to turn left into Shipton Road (signed Hensington opposite the junction)

If you just turned at a T junctionOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You need to turn right  into Shipton Road (signed Hensington opposite the junction)

Round the bend

The double bend in Shipton Road that is, through the chicane, past the swimming pool car park, over the pedestrian crossing, past the exit from the school and then right into the school. There is parking both sides here, disabled parking is available further on in front of the MEC.
