What Great Grandma did in the First World War: OFHS talk, 28 September 2015

On Monday, 28 September 2015, Sarah Paterson, who works at the Imperial War Museum, will talk to Oxfordshire FHS on “What Great Grandma did in the First World War: the Imperial War Museum’s Women’s Work Collection“.

Sarah says “The First World War revolutionised the role of women in the workplace, and the Imperial War Museum recognised this by gathering information and artefacts relating to female activities in employment and on the Home Front. This collection provides a wealth of detail about well known and forgotten organisations that may be useful to you if you are researching a relative who served in the Great War. The talk will provide an interesting and entertaining overview of the often overlooked contribution of women to the war effort, with the opportunity to ask questions afterwards. “

We meet at the Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AB, with the talk starting at 8:00pm. Doors open at 7:15pm, when there will be advisors offering computer and genealogy help, books for sale, journals to browse, and tea and coffee available.

Non-members are very welcome.
