Was your ancestor a Morris Dancer ? – The History of Morris Dancing and the Morris Dancing Year - Oxfordshire FHS Talk 25 January 2016

On Monday, 25 January 2016, John Frearson will talk to Oxfordshire FHS on:

Was your ancestor a Morris Dancer ? – The History of Morris Dancing and the Morris Dancing Year

John will answer the questions you have never asked. Why is it called Morris? When and where did it start? Why do they do it? The speaker, John Frearson, danced the Morris for over 30 years – and was the Bagman [national secretary] of The Morris Ring for seven years. A fully illustrated talk on the history and many forms of Morris dancing through the year – and some of the places where you might just find family connections.

We meet at the Exeter Hall, Oxford Road, Kidlington, OX5 1AB, with the talk starting at 8:00pm. Doors open at 7:15pm, when there will be advisors offering computer and genealogy help, books for sale, and tea and coffee available.

Non-members are very welcome.
