Harvesting Men - Why & How I wrote about the WWI fallen of my village
February 26, 2024 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM at Exeter Hall and via Zoom online

This is a hybrid meeting starting at 8pm (UK Time) – Exeter Hall doors open at 7:30pm, Zoom meeting opens at 7:55pm.
Speaker: Trina Wilcock
Talk summary: Before lockdown Trina had started to research the men whose names are listed on the WWI Memorial plaque in her local church. Lockdown then gave her the opportunity to really start putting the pieces together. In 2022 she decided that the information she had gathered warranted being shared with the wider community, in particular other villagers some of whom are related to the men. Therefore she set out writing a book. This talk goes through the background of why she wrote the book, some of the sources she used to gather the information and finally details the war time services of just two of the men.
Speaker Bio: Trina is a member of the OFHS who has been researching family history on and off for the last 30+ years and always had an interest in WWI. She has a son who served in REME and has fought for this country in the Middle East. Since another member of the family took up the mantle of family historian, she has decided to look at the lives of the men who appear on her local war memorial.
