Scanning

OFHS has a remit to make information relating to Oxfordshire family history more widely available. The Society also pledges to help preserve fragile documents which are unable to take heavy wear and tear.

What has been scanned?

The largest project the Society has undertaken is the scanning of Oxfordshire Parish Registers, which was a two year project. The registers were collected from several different archives, recorded, scanned and checked. The final results are available via the Ancestry website.

The Minn & Buckler collection of glass slides is being scanned, available to be accessed via the Oxfordshire History Centre.

There are also smaller scanning projects, such as the Oxford Honour Roll and several individual items. These scans are usually available in the Members-Only area of this website.

What should be scanned in the future?

The Society is keen to continue to scan documents or images deemed suitable. Please contact the OFHS Projects Co-ordinator at projects@ofhs.org.uk to discuss any of your ideas.
